In order to get people to talk about its new Special K Cracker crisps Kellogg’s opened a shop in London where people could pay for a packet with a tweet. We have seen an increasing number of activations like this, which encourage people to start a conversation in order to receive a sample. Earlier in the year Toyota and iced tea brand BEV also came up with ways to get people to tweet for a treat.

Mercedes Benz took its “Park Assist” feature to the streets with this interesting campaign. Working under the premise that it can be difficult and frustrating to find a parking spot; the automotive company created a roving “Tweet Fleet”. Mercedes fitted some of its cars with a special device that allowed them to send geolocation data to twitter. Every time the Tweet Fleet passed an empty parking space an automatic tweet was posted to a dedicated twitter account. Allowing motorists who followed on Twitter to home in on free spaces. It was a great way to sync the in-car “Park Assist” feature with the idea that things can be a little easier. The campaign got the press talking and we’re sure it was also much appreciated by those after elusive parking spaces!
