T-Mobile stages sing-a-long

T-Mobile staged a giant Karaoke sing-a-long in Trafalgar Square this month as part of an experiential stunt to boost brand awareness. Two thousand microphones were distributed for people to share, with live images of people singing along to hits such as Hey Jude projected onto giant screens. The event also featured a cameo by pop star Pink.  Strategically positioned cameras captured footage of the event that will be edited into a TV ad for the brand.

Samsung is launching a 16-day experiential roadshow this month to promote its new Tocco Ultra Edition flagship phone.  A large 3D model of the handset, from which an interactive hologram of the phone will be projected, will be placed at shopping centres nationwide.  When consumers ‘touch’ the hologram, it will transform into a ‘text to win’ message.  Plinths will be placed around the installation to encourage hands-on trial of the new handset.

Sony Ericsson used tennis stars Andy Murray and Venus Williams to stop traffic in Miami last month as part of an experiential stunt to promote the brand’s sponsorship of the Miami Open. The pair drew large crowds as they played an impromptu game of car-roof tennis on Miami’s busy Ocean Drive.

Sony Ericsson teamed up with The Carphone Warehouse this Mothers Day for a campaign that launched its new W595 Sakura Handset as an alternative to floral gifts. The phone manufacturer called in the expertise of event industry florist Carly Rogers to educate shoppers in the ‘language of flowers’. Visitors to selected Carphone Warehouse stores were taught which blooms convey what sentiments so they knew what to send their mothers.

Vodacom spreads summer love

South African telecomms company Vodacom sent Brand Ambassadors wearing Bluetooth hypertags to beaches and parks throughout the country last month as part of its iconic ‘Love Someone, Love Summer’ campaign to promote the brand’s mobile services.  Brand Ambassadors engaged with holiday makers encouraging them to accept and download alerts for the chance to win instant prizes.
