In a bid to get people thinking about human trafficking in Amsterdam’s famous Red Light District, campaign group “Stop The Traffik” created a stunt that certainly grabbed the attention of people walking by. A group of women, wearing very little, performed a seductive dance routine in street-facing windows.  A crowd of people gathered, enjoying the spectacle, but their faces changed dramatically when a screen displayed the message “Every year, thousands of women are promised a dance career in Western Europe…Sadly, they end up here…”.

BEcause brand experience - save Troy libraryDue to a lack of funds Troy Public Library in Michigan looked set to close.  After years of tireless campaigning to save the much loved local landmark the fate of the library fell to a vote on a tax increase.  If residents were to say yes to higher tax then the library would be saved. Yet, the suggestion of a tax increase turned the focus away from the books and to anti-tax politics.  Leo Burnett Detroit came up with this interesting campaign that switched the focus back by creating a fictitious group who appeared to be organining a book-burning event to celebrate the closure of the library.  At the suggestion of this people were outraged and it sparked coversations across the city, across the state and even internationally.  Watch the video below to see the result!

We’ve teamed up with Plan UK, the global children’s charity, to launch a year-long programme of consumer-facing events, aimed at boosting sponsorship and awareness levels.

The national roadshow is designed to give Plan ambassadors a platform to talk directly to potential individual sponsors about the work the charity does to help children in the world’s poorest countries.

The campaign kicked off at The Adventure Travel Show at Olympia, London (28-29th January), an occasion billed as “the UK’s only event dedicated to discovering the world off the beaten track”.  Visitors were invited to spend some time in the Plan Base Camp where they could watch videos of the charity in action. Guests were also invited to learn how to create their own Paper Batik – one of the craft skills that Plan teaches to help lift people out of poverty.

To allow conversations to develop, a small café served free cups of tea and coffee.  Brand Ambassadors talked to consumers about the work Plan does to improve education, health, water, sanitation and creating economic stability for people who need it the most.

Katie Penfold, Senior Account Director at BEcause, comments:

“We’re really proud to be working with such a passionate group of people to help lift the profile of a very worthy cause.  We hope that the chance to reach globally-aware and active audiences at relevant consumer shows this year will allow Plan to secure the support it needs and deserves.”

The roadshow is due to visit other events this year including The Malvern Spring show and The Vitality Show.  Its next outing will be at The Times Destination show on 4th February 2012.

Chevrolet has launched an extensive multi-platform campaign that is an attempt to align the new Chevy Sonic with its target audience, the young and adventurous.  On the site www.letsdothis.com participants can do challenges, which include offbeat tasks like donating blood in a vampire costume or working out in a supermarket.  They then need to upload photographic proof and be peer-voted up the leader board to possibly secure themselves a brand new car.  In 2012 traditional print and TV advertisements will be launched but in the meantime Chevrolet has a schedule of experiential stunts to whet the appetite and, it is hoped, help to establish the Sonic as a car that is just as up for adventure as those that drive it.

How to stand out in the heat…

Post by BEcause XM

Is it cruel, as our summer draws to a close, to point out that temperatures in Brazil during the summer can reach 42 degrees?  So how do you make your fan stand out in a market full of devices designed to cool consumers down?  Agency Publicis based in Sao Paulo came up with this great campaign to excite consumers about the Arno Turbo Fan.

On a busy street in Sao Paulo a car was turned on its side.  When intrigued members of the public looked closer the car had apparently been blown over by the power of the Arno Turbo Fan, which continued to provide a stream of cold air for passers by to enjoy…

We think this is a fantastically simple stunt.  Imaginative and bound to have left a lasting impression on those witness to the “power” of the Arno Turbo Fan.
