Happy new year everyone and welcome back. As part of the end of the decade spate of programs out there I recently found this interesting piece on the BBC Iplayer from a series called “History of Now”. The program looks into the trends of the last decade, and how this could impact everyone going forward, especially focusing on “Kidulthood”, the idea of grown people never growing old with ever more money to spend based on the property bubble that is growing. If you get an hour spare I would definitely recommend you give it a look, some nasty implications look to be looming for those of us not lucky enough to have been born in the 50’s and 60’s and have bought a house when the going was cheap. What is best about the show however, is its keen knowledge of marketing trends and social trends developing. A great explanation of the zeitgeist.
The link is http://bbc.co.uk/i/psp5r/ but watch it quickly as it is only up until the 15th of January.
::Update::
The second episode from this series is now up as well, also certainly worth a look. Check it out at http://bbc.co.uk/i/psrnm/ but again only until the 15th of Jan.
